West Somerset Run (September 2022)

Sunday 4th September, 10:00 for 10:30 at Willowbrook Nursery and Garden Centre, West Buckland.

Cripes, no blue sky anywhere, just low, threatening grey stuff up there!
And in view of a pretty inclement weather forecast some re-mapping to avoid too many tricky back roads.
Normal service is resumed?!

A few regulars were absent at the start today too…

The route – from Willowbrook, north through the smaller lanes to Oake and a left turn west along the B3227. Off the ‘big road’ at Shillingford to cut through to the A396 and a short stint up the Exe valley. Branch off east along the top to the B3224, down into Wheddon Cross to pick up the 396 again as far as Timberscombe and loop back south up out of the valley. After a few miles drop down Lype Hill to the B3224 again but turn east this time to Raleighs Cross (possible food – or comfort! – break) and eventually back onto the small roads through Halse and (again) Oake to return to Willowbrook for refreshments.

60 miles in all, and although the roads were pretty damp in places thankfully the only real rain was a few minutes at Raleighs Cross.
