Girder Fork Run 2016
The Girder Fork and Ridged Frame Run 2016 was blessed with a fine sunny day, as it started out from the Old Down Hostelry on the junction of the A37 and the B3139 at Emborough. All were away by 1030 for a circular route which took them through the historic City of Wells, and up onto the Mendip Hills to Charterhouse then down to Blagdon lake, and on via the wonderfully named Nempnett Thrubwell, to West Harptree and Litton, returning to Emborough and the Old Down Inn for a well earned lunch
After lunch the ride went to Kilmersdon, of Jack and Jill Hill fame, and then to Mells, also associated with the nursery rhyme of Little Jack Horner.
At East Cranmore we passed the East Somerset Preserved Railway and finally through Chilcompton to Colin and Pipa Benthams home, for tea and cakes in the garden.
Thanks for your hospitality folks and a special thanks to Pipa for the wonderful cakes. In fact I believe it’s only the lure of these cakes that got the 12 riders out.
The awards for the day were as follows
Veteran Colin Bentham on his 1911 Triumph
Vintage Dave Atterbury on his 1919 Triumph
Post Vintage Dave Joyce on his 1934 Velocette KSS
Post War G Adams on his 1951 Triumph
Looks like a Triumph benefit (common as muck)
