Autumn Leaves (October 2025)

Autumn Leaves (October 2025)

Sunday 12th October, 10:00 for 10:30 at Frankie Howerds Cafe, Loxton

First time at this venue and a good turnout of 20+ to enjoy the novelty or perhaps because it’s going to be a dry day! (Albeit a bit misty and overcast for the run.)

The route took us west from Loxton, along the side of Bleadon Hill, running past some of Thatchers orchards (‘earlies’ already harvested but ‘lates’ still on the trees), over Wonderstone (short but steep) and down through Bleadon village to the A370. A quicker ‘A’ road run for 5 miles then off on a circuit across the levels (including a few miles of narrow droves) towards Bleadney, ‘A’ roads again (with a detour up Doctors Hill out of Wookey) along the lower edge of the Mendip escarpment to Cross where we took to the smaller roads to continue along the side of the hills (with big views out across to the distant Polden Hills in the south ) for the last few miles back to Loxton for Sunday lunch (for those that had booked) or cake and coffee (for those that hadn’t!).

A very scenic day out. Many  thanks to Phil for organising.
